This drama unfolds at the McNamara-Troy plastic surgery center in south Florida, focusing on the intertwined lives of its two co-owners, Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Christian Troy (Julian McMahon). Sean struggles to maintain harmony in his personal life, grappling with marital tensions and the pressure to reconcile with his wife Julia (Joely Richardson), whose relationship with him has grown increasingly strained. Meanwhile, Christian's obsession with attracting attractive clients and engaging in dubious business transactions often stems from his desire for wealth and power. Despite Sean's dedication to his professional responsibilities, he frequently finds himself correcting Christian's missteps. In the first season, their lives become entangled with Escobar Gallardo, a Colombian drug lord, who coerces them into performing free surgeries at his behest. Sean's marital issues escalate as he embarks on an affair with a patient named Megan O'Hara, while Julia's attempts to pursue education are disrupted by a miscarriage of a child they were trying to conceive. Christian's personal life takes a turn when he learns he is the father of a baby born to Gina, a woman he met at Sexaholics Anonymous, only to discover later that the child is African-American, leading to questions about paternity.
